Using cork as a lens, Sculpting Perception explores how cultural value is assigned to materials. Despite its exceptional material properties, cork remains closely associated with utility rather than desirability. Through experimental, hand-led and instinctive making processes, the collection develops a new material language for cork that challenges inherited perceptions and redefines the contexts in which the material is understood.

Each piece emerges through a dialogue between the organic, low-intervention nature of the material and an experimental, relentless process of material enquiry. Large cork blocks imported from Portugal are sculpted using bespoke carving tools before being hand-dyed and finished with beeswax, celebrating the tactile qualities of the material and preserving visible evidence of the material's connection to the natural world.

The forms respond to the material's natural character, embracing subtle irregularities that reflect cork's organic nature and ensure that each object is in service of its own inherently unique character and identity.
